Hi all,
Had a spare 20 minutes today so chose a nice simple job that was on the list! ... yeah right. Fitted some 265/75r16's recently and needed to adjust the stop locks slightly ... as you do.
First one ... no problems, 5 mins and done.
Second one ... Seized like a b*****d and in trying my best to free it the whole bolt snapped in two. I then had to grind the nut off and am left with the remains of the bolt in the hole so will need to drill it out.
Does anyone know where you can buy these bolts and lock nuts from as I can't find any or anyone know what size thread it is so I can buy something to do the job. Haven't drilled the remains out yet so can't test with another bolt and don't want to remove the one on the other side as it's set perfectly ... got the tap and die set ready incase I damage the thread.

I did exactly the same (snapped bolt) when i was doing my swivel, but luckily managed to get the remains out wit a pair of stilsons when it was on a bench. I got a replacement from a local indy place, he just took one out of a scrap axle he had lying about.;););)

Can't get stilsons on this one as the remains are all inside the hole ... had to grind the nut off so the drill is the only option. :( Good idea to try a breakers though ... may try that as it's not an emergency piece of Land Rover.

Just remember that your tyre will catch on full lock, and if like me you forget about the missing stop :doh:you will **** yourself and think something is horribly wrong.;);)

I know, it was catching anyway so I'm prepared for it ... at least you don't use full lock over 15mph ... or shouldn't! :D ... and one side is fine now anyway :)

Just managed to do the same as Andy - but managed to get an angle grinder between the nut and bolt and then unscrew.

After a search, and in case anyone stumbles upon this thread again, the Steering Stop Bolt is AFU1234 and the Nut NT112041

Believe having the steering stop missing is an MOT failure!

Both mine came undone fine, one was was a tad tight other was loose!
Drilling it out and sticking an M10 or m12 and using two nuts as said has got to be easiest solution especially if you have no access to taps etc.
