Bin to look at a series ambulance.
Liked it in general but noticed the steering was very stiff, more so than a standard series.
The vehicle had a smaller steering wheel and 205 tyres, which I know is gonna make it worse.
I was wondering if there are diffo ratio steering boxes fitted to 2a's, this one being a 'quick' box and making the steering tight.
The other thing is that the diffs have been replaced for disco ones changing the gearing.
The engine is disco tdi as well, these look lighter so shoudlnt have a negative effect.
Might have a look at some 2a's for sale to see if its me turning into a weak old fart, life begins at 40.

Thats interesting Pob's.

Couple of questions for you,
Does yours have:

standard steering wheel.
front&rear anti roll bar.
wide 205 tyres.

I'm going through the process of wondering whether I'm gonna be able to cope driving the old girl.

Does 3.5K sound over the top for an ambulance in ok nick, she has a 200 tdi turbo'd but no cooler, overdrive, 1 ton brakes and rangie diffs, and she's tax exempt.
Sounds like top wack to me.

Standard wheel yes
Anti roll bars front + rear yes
205 tyres not sure with out looking but I know they are massive

I paid £1000 for mine but it was in a state
3.5k sounds like a lot but if it's in ready to run with mot and not in need of work then it's not to bad a price

Yup.

Thanks pobs, must be the shirt button sterring wheel then.

I would say so, we have an old series 2 parts vehicle with 650 x 16's on it and a smaller steering wheel and trust me it takes some hard cranking to get it to steer

my series 3 with bigger tires is actually a LOT easier to turn, because it has the standard steering wheel

Thanks chaps.
After a little research I'm not having the landy.
There are a few things I dont like, and for over 3 grand I'd want something that was right not something that needs a pile of work.
If I pay 1500 quid it wouldnt be an issue.
