Hi,
Took my landy out on its first big outing since having a fair bit of work done, however i ended up calling the AA lol. Isnt every journey an adeventure!!!
Basically i pulled over as one of the warning lights had come on, however after having a quick look round no issues so went to start up and...nothing, tried again and...nothing. So after a look i rang the AA.
AA man arrived (Very quick and very helpful) and took a look. The alternator was fine, battery was charging ok, i think there was 13 - 15 volts (not sure, he used an electrical thingy).
He then checked the solenoid which clicked when i turned the key but that was all.
He then used a piece of wire to connect between two of the points of either battery, ignition or wire from solenoid to starter motor. This then worked, and i proceded home At home i switched off, removed the key, tried starting and guess what, it statred fine, temperamental.
So my questions is firstly whch points were connected so if this happens again i can have a go at getting it going myself, and also which bit of the starting system needs attention/replacing?
My thinking is that he bypassed the solenoid, as it started first time using the wire, therefore the starter motor is fine and it is just the solenoid playing up?
cheers in advance
matt
