Hi chaps,

Today's issue is the starter motor fuse has started to blow every few starts. It started after i did the transfer box rear seal but cannot think that radio motor loom is connected?

My laptop is bust but squinting at my phone i think the fuse is only connected to the starter solenoid, alternator and the lift pump?

The car does crank. Fuse pops as the key turns or is fine, depending how it feels.

1995 DT. Ideas welcome!

Disconnect the starter solenoid and see if the fuse still blows. Sounds like it could be the solenoid with a partial short.

It is the EAS pump. 5 hours since I drove it and it was still hot. Disconnected it and no blow.

Out of the 3 spare pumps i have lying around, not a single one works! Cleaned up all connections and refitted original pump. Not quite sure what next.

If the pump is hot, it's running too much, either feeding a leak or worn to the point it cannot make enough pressure, even more likely, the rear motor bearing has partially seized.

Check the pump relay contacts just to rule out any relay sticking!!;)

Alteady swapped the relay for the demister!

I've a pressure guage on my tank that doesn't drop. Car doesn't drop either although i will pull the delay timer and test.

One odd thing is that using diag the comms to turn pump on or off was a bit intermittent. Might be I have a dodgy connection somewhere.

If the pump does not always start using diagnostics to force it, I would look at the rear bearing assembly.

Noticed something else this morning. Pump is smooth and producing lots of air but every so often it feels like there is a misfire, i.e. a vibration like it missed a beat. Also, it isn't cutting out until 150psi which feels a bit high?

150 psi is fine.

Land Rover specify 154psi +/- 56psi which seems a bit wide to me.
