anyone know how to stop it squealing its brand new belt and ive cleand pulleys and it still squeals

what engine is it?
If it's a 300tdi which I am guessing it is.......Try searching for the 'penny trick'. If you're really lucky then you might find it in the 'common faults and frequently asked question' forum.

I thought it was self tightening on a 300 ? Anyway try the penny trick ,it does work but not for long

worked for 18 months on my last landy. It was still working fine even after it was written off.

definately worth trying the penny trick mate, worked for 12 months on mine hasnt missed a beat so far

A few months after I tried the penny trick the stud that holds the tensioner on snapped, squirting wd40 on it works for a few minutes...I'm learning to love my squeak now

thanks guys will try the penny trick
wd40 is a plasticiser so it keeps the inner belt softer and stops squeals.forget wd40 use a smear of vasaline it stay on longer
