finally managed to get it fitted

still got to tidy it up , did have some trunking left over so just put it over the brake lines next to the aux battery to protect it from any live wires going near the metal pipes

done it so the display unit inside can just lay flat out of the way with a cloth over it,

Do you not have a screen where you’ve fitted the t max thing in the last pic?

no, as i bought the base model and found out it was cheaper on the ins and being honest happy with my tom tom
Can't argue with that, on the old company car I had the nav disc updated for a trip to see some machinery in Europe and it was the price of a medium sized saloon car to get them updated, latest satnavs are automatic updated and TBH I just use my phone and navi app, gives traffic avoidance in real time so as not to get stuck on the motorway with no hope of moving faster than you can walk.

is suprising what some of those updates cost , don’t know how the onboard satnav compares to a tom tom , but does me well and indeed has all the traffic restrictions, inc speed cameras, blimey some are tucked away , lol

did look at some HSEs but thought will i really want all the extras

have retrofitted my front manual seats to electric

I'm sorry but that is far too tidy for a Land Rover. Please consider throwing a few buckets of grime in there so the Earthing-gremlins can do their work.

Nice installation.

many thks, when i start going off road will ensure i chuck some mud over it , lol

Gary thats a very tidy/smart job, I like mods like that ie subtle.
I think a pair of rubber battery terminal covers on the aux battery would look super smart.

Mines got the screen and TBH its only use is to see the name of the road I am on, the rest of the time its tomtom all the way, tomtom app on the phone free updates for life was 50 quid I think and best of all I could also load it onto the wifes phone all legit.

many thks, i just took my time and agree ref the battery covers, still got a few things to finish off, another bit of heatshrink on the conduit

i used 60amp fuses for each battery leads, did also get 70 x amps but thought the 60s should be suffice as i’m not running a winch etc , plus some spare to keep in the disco

what do u think , something like this doesn’t look too bad

Saw @gstuart handiwork Thursday, and it looks factory fit. Been done really well, and is so tidy. Looks superb

many thks buddy , is always nice getting feedback, even the wires that go from the engine bay to under the dashboard are also all sleeved properly in conduit ,

also threw away the stupid scotchlock fuse that came with the kit and fitted a decent inline fuse

I did similar

The photo's are on my other laptop, shame photobucket went silly expensive otherwise I could have kept my hundreds of photo's up.

can’t stand those scotchlock, seeing there are so many better solutions

that’s a shame ref ur pics , may i ask as the D3s are very power hungry on the batteries how have u found it with the other battery installed

i did fit a leisure battery as my aux

Mine is on a D1, the old company D3 had an aux battery for the webasto when it was used with the engine off, it was a voltage sensing relay from Durite with an albrite solenoid, it is a hell of a car with a 150A alternator and a lot of electronics.

thks, indeed i do like the D3 , it did worry me at first when i was testing the alternators output, 15.5 vdc and yes as u say 150amps , also fitted a brand new main battery 100 amps 900cca , biggest one i could fit in there , lol

like the idea of having the display inside the cabin and easy to press the button to link both batteries together if i need to

will be good to now run off the aux when the engine if off, ie to run lights whilst camping to my tent and not having to worry about the main battery

looked at a few of those timers on the FBH , controlled via a smartphone

know my diagnostic reader has paid for itself already

I will warn you now that for as good as the 200A rating sounds for the Tmax solenoid, I killed mine when the starter battery died and I linked the two batteries via the controller to start the Disco, it welded the contacts in the solenoid! I've replaced the solenoid and it's been golden since, although it is probably going to be removed in the not too distant future when I bolt on a second alternator with a 200A rating to feed the aux battery and the winch. Future jump starting can be done through my set of jump leads (which, in hind sight I should have used in stead of linking the two batteries through the solenoid ).

I am planning a whole new aux harness and fuse/relay boxes, got a load of diagrams to draw out for it and maybe I am going to put two 620SE-OPP Exide Heavy Professional Power EG1806 12v 180Ah 1000CCA behind the seats, one as main battery and the other as the aux, it should take about 80lb off the nose of my Disco and put that and the extra weight in the center of the truck, mine is a commercial with no back seats and a bulkhead over the foot well where the batteries will live, trunking and the fuse/relay boxes can be turned into a super neat installation from there I think?

blimey , out of curiosity , if u look at the pics , i’ve fitted 60 x amp fuses , one near the main and aux battery , so if the alternator failed and pressed the link button wouldn’t they blow to protect the solonoid plse

thats sounds like a serious bit of kit u intend to fit, batteries look fantastic as well , will be good to see the pics when u get round fitting it please

did take me a while sorting all the trunking out, even tracking down the fittings where i could put 3 x pieces of conduit together in order i could run wires in different directions
