The speed people said that they advertise where they are, paint em yellow, put white lines on the road and signs up, if your still stupid enough to get caught its ur own fault.

Good advice i think.

yes but what about the kunt who got me last year with his transit van camera on a motorway bridge at 0900 hrs on a sunday?
not a fooking thing on the road either. the bastard.

only by about 25 mph.
**** all to worry about on a fine sunny sunday morning with no traffic.

well it ****in well should do then.

ps. some **** also gave me a ticket for parking on a yellow line on easter sunday!
not another car in sight.

not a good year, last year.
as you can tell, im not bitter about it all.

Theres a ****in clue for you. No-one else parked there. thats because there was a yellow line which clearly showed that parking was restricted. The rest of 'em got the message and checked the restrictions and didn't park there. You didn't follow the basic rule of driving - OBSERVATION. So they gave the ****wit a ticket, probably because the ****wit deserved it. QED.

Are you American?

this ****wit has a brick ready for their warden people carrier when i see the ****ing thing.
gonna get me 30 quids worth somehow.

i dont think about it TOO often these days.

forget the speed camera issue..
who polices this discussion group ?
the guy was not making a political point..he was telling it like it is.
we get enough critisism for driving our cars 'cos they are big but i like to think we drive them responsibly. that should also hold true for our use of language on a website like this.

come on guys lets clean it up a bit...

save the mud and s**t for the offroading.

i enjoy this website but not the language

Speed cameras that are a deterrent to driving unsafely near a stretch of road with a high accident rate are worthwhile and fine. Speed cameras to deter excessive speed in built up areas are fine; especially around town centres, schools etc. are equally valid. Speed camera's on especially tight motorway ramps etc etc are also entirely appropriate.

Speed cameras to (illicitly) collect revenue and more importantly substitute for patrolling police are (in my opinion) a cause of problems and an excuse to reduce other, more expensive, forms of road safety management.

I'm convinced I see more dangerous driving than in the past and I'm equally sure there are fewer police actively patrolling (probably because they are redeployed elsewhere to save the Govt recruiting and yet maintain figures for beat bobbies and liaison officers etc.).

However, riches2004x talks about people being caught by cameras for having a "lapse of concentration". Would that be the same kind of concentration lapse that leads some people to crash into other road users and kill them???

I've been caught by a camera myself (at 05:00 doing 48 in a 40) and like Ormus was mightily angry...but on greater reflection it was entirely my fault. I may not agree with the location of that camera (since removed) but I was the one speeding

All irrelevent to me anyway as the wife's Disco is in bits and she's kidnapped my car until I fix it - try as I might I ca't run fast enough to trigger a speed camera so I'm alright jack..!

i am angry cause i really do drive very safely and with consideration for the conditions and others road users.
but getting done on a sunday morning when the sun was shining and no traffic? hows doing me in this case contribute to road safety?
same as the parking ticket. outside my sons house, wide main road, easter sunday, ffs.
its plainly obvious its just a case of raising revenue. nowt else.

licence for nearly 40 yrs. last 25 yrs clean licence, then this.
am i ****ed off?. too right i am.

thats all well and good but he doesn't even live in this country, he's from "ksa" wherever that is, but apparently its very hot. isn't that a bit like me ranting about how badly mugabe treats the people of zimbabwe and saying he should be ousted out of power. if you don't like the rules of a certain country then don't go there. there is an age old saying "when in rome" etc etc. i rest my case ;)
