Hi, i have an 02 Freelander, does anyone know the specification for the speakers in the front door (not the ones in the A pillar). Furthermore does anyone know how to take the speakers out.

Sig. . . just turn the volume to full ,they normally just fall out then, also ya doors might drop off as well but thats normal, but never ever switch on yer curlin tongs on with the amp at full swing, you could right it orft. . .

I tried to tug mine off in the car last night ;) Misses went mad when she caught me.
Oops, guess I should reword that. I tried to remove the speaker grills last night. They seem to want to come off but I fear they may snap off before coming off nicely.
I'd remove the door trim, they're simple enough to remove. I reckon you'll find a 5 inch driver behind there, don't quote me on that but the grills look like they could hide such a beast.
I bet LR Guy would know the answers to this. He's my hero :D

The speakers are 17cm in both the front and the back. You will need to take the door panel off to get access to them but it is quite easy to do. I have attached a link for you. It shows how to fit Dynamat but it will help you get the panel off. I changed my speakers to Pioneer TS-G1748's and they are suited brilliantly to the car

Good Luck - PM me if you get stuck

Hi I am very new to this site so excuse my ignorance....I too would like to remove the front door panel of my 03 freelander to replace the main speaker. I note there was a link to a page showing how to do this but I can no longer see it. Could you or someone else help me please?

Steve.

the thread is over 3 years old....

(i'm sure someone will find a link for this) In the meantime, try and download the Rave CD from Greenoval.com, as it covers things such as this in great detail

I've just come across this thread as i'm in the process (well, staring at the door with a speaker in my hand) of replacing the crappy speakers.

So far i've managed to pull the whole door to pieces - not cool! - Think I might do a guide on my blog and replicate here. I might just follow it for the second door.

I just hope that these speakers are good as so far it's a pain in the ass
