So as the title says what spare parts do you keep for the freelanders? I've come across a parts car, and I've grabbed the parts I need to fix the wife's freelander, ( cam sensor, and crank sensors for the hard starting and coil pack for random misfire) what else do I need to get? I've waited a long time for another one to show up in the wrecking yard, what other parts should I be getting?
Parts for the freelander are expensive over here in Canada, and I usually have to have them shipped from overseas, so I have to wait until I can fix the car. I've had cam and crank sensors shipped but it's been over a month since I've order them And they are sitting in customs.
Thanks

Take everything you can. The IRD and VCU are worth taking. The PS pump can fail as can the alternator. The steering rack is worth keeping. If the engine and gearbox are ok , take them too ;)

I'll be heading back tomorrow, hopefully it won't be raining. I'll have to check out the window regulators, as well as some of the plastic lights. The engine and trans.... Who knows, I'm assuming it's a hgf. As for the trans, same kinda deal, I can't hear it run or drive, all the accessory have been removed already, no power steering pump or alternator but it could be in a car beside of it. Not sure if the ird or the vcu are still there, it started raining really bad and I didn't get a chance to see if it was still there. I'll check to see if the abs modulator is there as well.
Thanks
For the tips on what to grab.

I haven't had any issues buying from either UK ( Muddy Mods, Rimmer) or the USA (Atlantic British) My last order from Muddy Mods arrived in 2 days-Yes! Two days!
That said, from my experience whatever used parts you have on hand will be the ones that don't fail. Murphy's Law! And if you do have the parts, they either wont fit or will be faulty!

Buy the whole car and store it at home. Safest way to store parts, and perhaps surprisingly, the most space efficient too (speaking from experience of having broken an MGF to build my racing MG!)

Hmmmm  sound like my 'normal' spares cupboard......
I have Diff, IRD, Drive shafts, VP37 HPFP, Wabco ABS (well two - don't ask lol) - all connectors an wiring.. ECU /(DCU) with matching CCU and also a spare CCU...
Window regs, tailgate unit , engine mounts... I need a steering rack and vac pump - you just reminded me.... :)
