help required please. im going to attempt wiring in a cd player in my series 3, is this a straight forward task. hints and tips very welcome. also how easy is it to wire some spots up?. after filter changes and cleaning the air cleaner my landy does not appear to smoke as much. it still smokes on deccelaration and on idling-any ideas? has anyone soundproofed the cab on their vehicle? whats the best material and how cheap is it? cheers for any advice.

Actually Mr M, I'm about to put a CD player in mine too.

Piece of P in a III as far as I can see. Unless you want to punch your code in & reset your pre-sets every time you fire up take a feed straight off of the battery. It's so close to the cab it's real easy. This does mean the CD will be taking a tiny current from your battery all the time, but unless your Landy is being left standing for long periods it shouldn't be a problem (if it is being left standing - disconnect the player or the battery for that matter - but make sure you know the pin code if your player has one!)

I've found in older vehicles it's easiest to create a new earth unless there's an existing (good) one nearby. Find an unused "hole" in the bulkhead or drill a small new one. Scrape off & wet&dry a small but very clean small circle of bare metal. Fix your earth with a small bolt & washers & smear with a healthy dollop of vaseline.

Power in, power out, easy peasy. Have you a cubby box? Mount it in or behind (easier & more accessible while driving) then no low life tealeaf can see it.

Thinking about insulation too. I'd welcome anyone's thought on that also. Anyone any experience of www.agriemach.com 's stuff?

Sorry Monkey, not hi-jacking your thread, thought that might help though.

Just my thoughts,
Marcus.
