Hi - I recently bought a Range Rover Vogue SE 06.

suddenly one day whilst driving my radio stopped producing sound. (no sound comes from speakers at all now, inc headrest dvds, radio, satnav)
a family member passenger (who works for the fire service) could smell burning coming from boot of car. looked in and thought it was coming from left hand side where there are numerous electrical boxes.

since then. i have had all fuses checked - which are fine.
and today i had a guy out who ran a diagnostic test on car.

faults shown are:
Rear driver utility module faults:-
B1D73-49
B1A00-46
B1A99-4C
U1A03-4A
U1A14-49

now what i was wondering was where do i go from here? does anyone know where these faults point to?
are they pointing to the Amp being faulty or somewhere completely different.

the two units which i had thought to be the cause. are parts number:
XRA500060
and
YIL000054

which upon internet searching, (ebay) seem to be coming up as:
"Range Rover L322 Digital TV Tuner XRA500060 4h43 - 19g212 - a"
"Range Rover L322 GCAT DVD Player Control Module Part Number YIL000054"

i am losing the will to live without sound in the car.
and wondering if anyone can shed any light on what to do next or which parts i should actually be sourcing.

(note: i am a female, so don't really trust going to garages and parts specialists as they normally take the biscuit a little)

Thanks in advance for any help given.

Big Mistake as in buying the car? or Big Mistake that diesel has caused my sound issues? I don't understand???

Hi,

seems like the guy who performed the diagnostics on your car didn't have a land rover specific type, otherwise you would have received proper fault messages not just random codes that mean nothing.

anyhow, since you have burning in the rear cubby area i would be checking for water ingress (as its a common problem). water can enter through and feck up the DSP amplifier, this is the usual problem for loss of sound. i would unplug the various connectors and check for signs of damp, corrosion or burning !

doubt its anything to do with the DVD or TV tuner parts you have suggested.

good luck

i initially thought water damage. But the guy said he doesn't see any signs of water in that area.
Thing is I'm finding it pretty hard to locate the actual amp. as there seems to be so much going on in the compartment at the rear left. i have lots of different machines in there that are all connected together (it seems)

Do you reckon it is wise to source a second hand amp and replace that to fix issue? or do you think that taking it to a dealer is my best bet?

the water ingress isn't always obvious to notice. it could be just slightly damp, but over time this will get into the components.

The DSP amp isn't hard to spot, it is the largest of the boxes, it has metal fins on one side.

Thankyou so much for your detailed reply, i really appreciate it thanks.

i will look check the parts in the cubby and see if i can
1) locate the amp
2) see if i can see corrosion to connectors.

Many Thanks for your help.

MoJo, try park in dry place, RR's for some reason ain't keen on water, consider car port, best investment i've ever done.

There's big/great/expert help on this forum, bank of knowledge, please don't let dealers rip you off too much.

Yeah the diesel/petrol thing ... show us your car :nopics:

So strange that they aren't good with dealing with water you would think a car of this sort would be the best to handle all sorts of weather.

I'm just about to go and check the boot now and try locate this amp. I'll take pics and show of my findings.

I'm not sure how to upload pics but here is my first attempt.

Ok I have managed to locate the amp! But only with the eye as its so far under & behind that pile of equipment shown on the pic.

I can read a part description saying
Harman kardon logic 7
aud 4l xqk500105

This has to be the amp right? And typically it is screwed right into the base of this stack.
As I mentioned previously I am female so I need to wait till I can borrow some tools to take this apart before I can see if there is any damage to amp.

Nice motor

Yes that's the amp, the harman kardon unit.

You need to check the connections / plugs now for damage.

Sadly the build quality is a let down, much like all new cars. Anyway to keep costs down ! :(
