Just to break up the usual threads on this site I thought I'd mention my New Year trip.

Bristol to Glasgow with the cruise control set at just over 80, sorry officer make that 68. Glasgow to just outside Perth and onto some very icy farm tracks. Back to Glasgow and back on the motorway (and the cruise control)to Bristol.

She didn't miss a beat, she didn't put a foot wrong even on an ice covered rutted track with a six foot drop into a burn, stream for you sassenachs, right alongside - in fact the only bad part of the journey was tanking up on the motorway on the way home when she drank £108 in diesel - and the gauge was nowhere near empty!!

Ipod plugged into the stereo, heated seats when required (thanks to this forum for the fix), heater blasting out (a massive thanks to the forum), armchair comfort and a very enjoyable new year.

Just sometimes you KNOW why you bought a Rangie.

Nice when they do that. :) They are well designed cars, just not well made.

OK so he went Bristol, Glasgow, Perth plus some tracks, that gives a conservative round trip estimate according to Michelin of 850 miles, assuming 2 tanks of diesel say 150 litres assuming the tank was not run to minimum, that equates to 25.75 mpg, about right for the diesel cruising at 80mph on the motorway.

Just to add I went to the Isle of Arran for new year, from Sheffield.

I did 580 miles on one tank with some fuel to spare worked out at 33mpg using, using the old fashioned method, but also what the computer said.

That was with 5 of us plus luggage... and 50psi in the tyres!!

Sorry for the silence.
Virgin broadband service just died.

I estimate that I was getting about 24 mpg but I'm not certain as I haven't finished the last tankful, and probably won't for a few weeks as I'm back in the company van and SWMBO does the shopping etc. in her Focus.

As for the price of diesel that tankful on the motorway was at 137.9 per litre.
