Are you talking about the differential lock lever beside the main gear lever? in which case that only shows that drive is locked equally between front and rear axles and shouldnt be used unless stuck - hence the warning light on dash. as far as 2 wheel drive goes you have to start removing prop shafts......

so is my lanny permanintly 4WD ? or 2WD and if 2WD which 2 wheels will turn ?

its permenant 4WD.

what do you mean?? he was asking what wheels turned when it was in 2wd, i would have thought it was obvious that all the wheels would be turning. and i don't have a freelander any more it's in the insurance plot at the local breakers, after the wife got it stuck on the beach.

Hey up freelanderdave Can't be arsed to read all this thread. But what did your wife get stuck on on the the beach, and will we see it on telly in the summer? did the RNLI have a good turn out.

hi grunt she was driving this freelander that she got me for christmas, i said i wanted a landrover and she bought this piece of dung. anyway she insisted we went to the beach and the dosey mare got it stuck in a pile of damp seaweed. i said i was going for help but i just went to the nearest pub for a few jars. i got back and the freelander was drowned but she wasn't.
so now i'm waiting for the insurance money and i'll buy a defender i think..

Isn't that something like what happened in the village only the water pump broke?
