Utter, utter hunts.
Small consolation but it looks like it was taken apart rather than ripped/cut apart. The owner might get enough back to be able to rebuild.
Feel for the farmer too, he has lost a lot of his crop there.

Apparently most of the parts were still there, along with the thieves car which they left behind in their haste to leave.
Must have been spooked by someone or something

I wonder if they found a tracking device and thought their position was known. I would guess the car they used was stolen. A lot of crime seems to use stolen cars on "clean" plates.
