hi all,
after feeling smug sat in the torrential rain with a dry headlining:), (both sunroofs fixed 2 weeks ago) i was driving home tonight and noticed water on the rubber mat passenger side:mad:. I reached down and the foam on the back of the board? under the dash was soaked on the passenger side. I have searched forum and read the ac drain pipe threads (mine doesn't have aircon) it was raining very heavily and i was driving at the time. I haven't investigated yet as its still p$%&£ing down, thought I'd try and narrow it down with the forum.
Cheers
Andy

oh bol$$cks.
whats the best way to reseal?

cheers
Andy
Black Mastik / clear silicone, just lift the rubber up a bit, poke in the nozzle, gently squeeze as yer runnin' it along the inside of the rubber (frame side and windscreen side) then wipe off excess. Ah use Arbosil and wipe the excess off with white spirit;)

Windscreen leaking

That's what I thought was my problem ... sealed up the windscreen, still leaking, though not as bad, but still getting wet footwell. Realised that plastic trim leak's like mad (run's under windscreen wiper's), it's totally out of alignment ... AND there are holes at the rear of the wing gutter's that like to let water in.

Whoever built our Disco was cock-eyed:doh:, I'm dreading taking up the carpet/sound proofing and finding more welding that needs doing:(

DONT USE SILICON ! it rots steel quicker than salt !!!
if you gonna use anything get auto seam sealer. its made for auto applications and is cheaper than silicon.

i had the same problem earlier this year, if you lift off the trim below the wind screen, the plastic bit that goes between the wind screen and bonnet, 3 seams of steel join together and are covered over with mastic, if the mastic is split pull it off and see if it's rusted on the seam's, if it is give it a a few coats of q rust, several coats of hammerite and reseal with mastic, stick it all together an jobs a guden!
Nick

ps if ya need piccies of where to look give me a shout

other possible causes of soggy footwells;
leak in grommet where harness goes through bulk head behind washer bottle.
holes in inner wing behind trim on side of footwell in front of doors

leak was passenger side only. I say was as it hasn't leaked again. hose pipe on windscreen was fine . there was a load of crud under the rubber seal in the corner . It only happened when driving in torrential (and i mean torrential / flash flood) rain.

the harness sounds like a good shout as the grommet looks shot.
Cheers guys
think this one is put to bed....:D
