Hi all , Gonna treat myself to some new tools but dunno which size socket set to get.
I know i will need metric and AF but what size sockets and what size drive?
what is the difference.
Also on the same subject what brand do you lot favour Sealy seam cheap at the mo but snap on are a kings ransom.

yup what they said :D, only down side is that they are 12 point instead of six, if ya have any REALY tight bolts get good/ impact individual 6 point sockets of that side

yup, halfords pro , kamasa are good, steer clear of chinky ****e, ( under £20 a set usualy )

lot of my stuff is snapon, regret buying some as it never gets used ! metric up to 35mm af up to 1.5 in , 1/2 drive is good, as is a 1/4 drive set fer small jobs, get a proper ratchet that makes a nice positive click when it goes round, not a weak sound !

yer can never have enough sockets , if yer kno what yer want size wise, relative to the vehicles(s) you work on yer can just buy what yer need at the time like i do,

1/4 set, 3/8 set, 1/2 set 1" set from 1/8" up to 3" sockets AF and 4mm to 75mm in metrics, all mixed makes , got them as i needed them was the cheapist way at the time!

if yer fancy it thers a big set of TENG in screwfix at a bostin price ! :) now thats good kit again, yer gets what yer pay fer

Yep, Halfrauds pro, :D I've got their flexi-head ratchet spanners and love 'em; the set I've got comes with a socket converter for the 13mm Flexi-head sockets..... MMMmmmm!! :D
Drapers aren't bad for pocket-money priced big sockets and stuff. Teng is good but pricier :D
I recommend that you get a 1/2 drive and a 1/4" drive, sets usually include a dropper as well. Plus a suitable extension bar to give extra grunt when needed. :)

If you buy snap-on the life time guarantee means that you'll never need to buy the same tool again because they will replace it. Thats why they are expensive, they are also the best.

I like draper expert, not too expensive and good quality.

 true but i have been refused a swap fer snapon on the grounds its wear and tear , a consumable item like a pz2 screwdriver the end went round after years and they said no, then again ther only £12 so it more than paid fer its self , yer can swap sockets and spanners as the guarantee id based on falty materials and workmanship ! its always good to keep on the right side of yer snapon man and dunt take the ****, yer never kno wen yer want to swap a couple of hundred quid 1" drive ratchet yer ****ed up !:D:D

me dads set is a right mess borrowed it off him and moaned like ****.Hes been collecting odd sizes over the years and has no order everything is just just chucked in an old ammo tin.
Turns out me rangie is pretty much the same with a right mixture of sizes AF, metric, witworth the lot-bloody godsend it is!

whitwuth on a range rover? they might fit but ther most like AF 1/2" and 9/16" or a 13mm socket is the same, ish ! depending on the corrosion
