hey all, i ran my 1996 300tdi disco really low on diesel , the next day i went to start her an loadsa black/blue smoke an some white came out plus a small pop sound it sounded an drives ruff as a nail until i got down the road when it all clears up this is still the same after putting 20 quid in her, i changed the fuel filter today still the same so has anyone any suggestions ? i suspect i`ve dragged up shyte so gonna clean the sediment filter

just took sediment filter off an put a straight pipe thru , no differance it sounds like its missing a bit also white smoke at lowish revs an slight backfire with darker smoke at higher revs,

just took it for a blast on the m`way try an clear it a bit it seems fine to drive, but smokes when your in neutral an revvin` her up, also i`m sure it sounds like its ticking a little but maybe i`m imagining it lol

I would try some injector cleaner before you go too far-hopefully you have just sucked up some muck and maybe water from the tank dregs

Also look at all the air side pipes, turbo/intercooler/air filter etc .. black smoke's either excess fuel or not enough air and the pipes are known to have delamination issues where the inside de-laminates and blocks the airflow.

disconnect outlet and crank over into a beaker-if you can **** faster=knackered

Reconnect and slacken injector pipe nuts-get someone to crank it and when injector looks wet tighten each nut=should fire up
