At last I have a Land Rover again, very happy. Opened the bonnet after a run today and noticed smoke or steam coming from around the top of the air con compressor. I say steam as there's no burning smell at all and it doesn't appear very dark. Aircon doesn't work, no cold air, but there are no dubious noises and it seems to be coming form around the top of the pump rather than the pulley area. Will ring the garage tomorrow but a little concerned about fire if I'm out on a longer run. Had it 2 weeks and no problems otherwise, sometimes a faint whine when turning the steering (stationary or moving) but that's intermittent and I assumed this is just a sporadically whiny PAS pump. Any thoughts, am I best to avoid driving it until the garage can fit it in?

Cheers, AJ

Solved. Was a leaking egr blanking plate puffing out around the compressor.
