Hi Chaps.
I have an 04 TD4 with around 40K on it.
I have recently noticed if I pull away reasonably hard (not foot to the floor) I am seeing quite a lot of smoke from exhaust. I have only noticed it since the darker nights when car headlights are behind. I don't think it's very black or blue smoke, just thickish grey and only under acceleration.
I have a Synergy II fitted and am trying variouse settings to see if they make a difference, but no luck yet. On normal cruising it runs smoke free.
Any pointers to check for?
Cheers.
Andy.

Setting 3 has worked well on the ones I've fitted provided the maf is good. Check smoke levels at full throttle in the daylight because I find no matter how clean the exhaust emissions are on diesels they always seem show a little in a following cars lights.

I'm running mine on setting 1 at the mo, 4 is the next best but produces more smoke (and power...) fiddle with the settings and get a mate to follow you is best, but most diesels will puff a bit under load/throttle if they are overfueling.

Setting 4 just amplifies the maf signal more than setting 1 which you don't need if it results in smoke. To increase the power you should try 2 or even 3.
