Hi there Karlos, if I might be so bold as to direct you to the Range Rover section for technical questions.

But the question in my head is whether it is just turning over slowly or turning over for a long period before spluttering into life?

Check for air bubbles in the clear fuel line from the filter to injection pump if you have bubbles replace the injector leak off pipes and best to cable tie them on or put some heatshrink on the ends, that will stop the fuel bleeding back to tank and it should start much better.

Jump lead on negative, hold the body of the plug with the other end of jump lead , then touch the small connector end on to positive terminal, just dont hold the plug in your fingers it may get a bit hot like.:D

I'll check this first before I do the glow plug test

Spill pipe is commonly available at motor factors etc, 2M length will do the MAP the lot and a little spare @ £4~5 p/M. Try to avoid cheap rubbish if possible, can be difficult to get quality stuff that lasts more than 6 months.
3 or 3.2mm internal diameter iirc? - quick search on here to be sure ;)
You cant use silicon tube anymore btw

Some of the guys here have few methods of improving their reliability, small zipties around the connection for example
