Has anyone, or, is it possible to fit a 5-door retractable parcel shelf to a 3-door Freelander - the second hand prices on ebay are extortionate and generally don't come with fittings..

Although this original post is from Oct-10, I thought I would bump this back up as I am sure that many 3 door owners (like me) still have the problem of a missing parcel shelf and on ebay they are rarely available.

Has anyone actually had success in fitting the 5 door version since Chasers reply or was he correct in saying it cannot be done?

Hi, i've been trying to find a retractable shelf for ages as i am sure it can be done BUT as mentioned they are so expensive......god knows why

I was lucky enough to find a solid parcel shelf a while back but i found it to be badly fitting...so i sold it in the hope of getting a retractable one......the idea i am currently playing with in my head is to find some material that is like a lot of the shelves fitted in newer cars these days (mesh type) & making a semi-rigid shelf that is fixed at the 4 corners with a 'poppet' type fixing....with the mesh being a close knit it would be both difficult to see what is in your boot & strong enough for something (not too heavy) to lie on top of it.....

Just an idea at the moment ;)

Is anyone lucky enough to have 2 Freelanders (3 and 5 door) who could test the 5 door's retractable parcel shelf on the 3 door so we know for sure if it will fit?
