Looked at my sills this morning, passengers OK, drivers rotten, can poke a screwdriver through it above the plastic moulds .. :(

So, I'm getting some 100x60x5 box section off my bro for nowt and intend cutting back the sills/flooras far as poss and simply adding in the box. My first question is basically would this size box section sills work as rocksliders?

I also intend to make some rock/tree-sliders up anyway, (some time in the future) as I doubt I'll have time to do it all before I need the Disco, so 2nd question is would fitting rocksliders after fitting box section sills be overkill or good sense?

Cheers.

I'm sure i've seen photo's of someone fitting box section sills somwhere, not sure if it was on here or somwhere else though!

I would think a 5mm wall is plenty enough for the job, in fact these are only 3mm... ;)

I thought I'd seen something on here about fitting box too, but couldn't find it!

I figured the 5mm would be OK, just wondered if fitting sills and rocksliders out of 5mm box is a bit much .. My thinking being that if I make the sills out of 5mm wall thickness then I might not need separate rocksliders, or could make rock/tree sliders a little less beefy at some time in the future, or even just add treesliders to the sills if they're already acting as rocksliders.

Or just use 'normal' off the shelf sill partss and make rock/treesliders up separately later.

Decisions, decisions ...

LOL, thanks .. that's probably why I couldn't find it here .. :)

That's the business that write-up, thanks for posting the link .. virtually identical to a Disco so ought to be able to follow it almost exactly .. :)

Dunno when I'll get the chance to do the work, don't have a workshop or indoors where I can do, it so it might have to be done in stages or under a gazebo/tarpaulin!!

;)
