Silicone high performance turbo tubes

Have any you you splendid fellows fitted the high performance silicone pipes?

I recently bought a set for my Td5 and am interested to know if there is likely to be any noticeable benefit.

I've got silicone hoses on mine, no noticeable performance gains to be honest though

Can't see how they could make any difference over standard renforced rubber hoses of the same diameter. They just look bling.

Can't see how they will aid performance unless your existing ones are collapsing internally.

My current set (300TDi) are by MK Performance, made to order and top quality.
In black so they also look OE.

They wont affect performance but they will not delaminate or blow like regular rubber hoses will.

Make sure you use quality hose clips as siilicone hoses are by their very nature slippery

the only benefit you will get is every time you open the bonnet .and show your mates your new up grade...but once the dust and dirt settles in they become high maintenance to keep clean
I also painted my rocker cover red this gave me an extra 25 HP
some silicon hoses wont deterate as quick as a standard hose and wont suck in or bellow as they keep there strength ..not needed on a TD5

on the coolant side using a silicon hose will look good and also long lasting depends on the grade of the hose and its purpose

You clean your hoses?
Can you tell me the RAL code for the red paint as I would be gutted if it was the wrong shade and I actually lost power

You could try painting a go faster stripe on the side of the hose.

My new silicone pipes where cheep because no other LR Defender owner would ever buy bright yellow !

And, I have never felt the need to expose my engine bay to my mates. One, because I don't have any and two, if I did have any they would not understand. Apart from Mick the builder from Sligo, there are very few Defender owners here in Ireland. Most Irish prefer vehicles from the Far East.

Very true, I am surprised at the amount of jubilee / hose clips I come across nowadays and they are useless, once you get close to putting some torque on the screw "pop" they start slipping.

I've always used 'Hi-Grip" clips (partly because I bought a box of them cheap at a bric-a-brac sale), they seem to hold very well.

Silicone pipes will give you nothing in performance but they will look nice.

Just to clarify, you didn't buy "Hi-Grip" from Aldidl? Aldidl stuff is either quite good or utter sh*te.

Sorry to hear you aint got any mates. Thinking about it, i have some blue hoses that i bought for my 200tdi but paddocks sent ones for a 300tdi. Carrick aint too far going cross country.

No, there were lots of different sizes for not much money. workzone probably.

all you need to do is sit an a car park that is well known to car clubs and leave the bonnet open ..
you don't need friends for this to work
