Hi all
Just been for a test drive in a 2001 V8 es discovery (up for 6K 79,000)
Looks like a dream and I followed all the checks listed on the forum and it seems straight and tidy.
My problem is that although it comes with a years warranty (electrical and mechanical) when we came to swop sides mid way through the test drive the dreaded 3 lights came on. Did not affect the drive and the guy said that it would all be sorted before a deal was done.
So should I proceed on what I belive to be a good motor with the safety net of the warranty or should I pass this one up ??
Any advice greatly appreciated.... and yes I have used the search button for the 3 amigos !!!
Cheers Phill ;)

Two observations I would make:

1. Any problems you find must be rectified BEFORE you conclude the deal, with a detailed report of what was done to resolve the problem. Sometimes on these vehicles, electrical issues come and go, so if you are not very careful nothing be have been fixed and the vendor is just hoping it won't happen again until you are far, far away.

2. The price is heavy. Yes I know it's got a guarantee, but often these are not worth the paper they are printed on. I know that sounds terribly cynical but life experience teaches you to be VERY careful spending large wadges of cash. By way of an example, a similar sounds car is currently for sale on Ebay and here is the link, please look at the current price !!!!!

Good luck,

Hi
thanks for the replies
Can I be a cheeky bugger though and come back on the price.
After hacking my old motor in it is actually £5399 and whilst I accept there is a difference between diesel and a V8 I can't find much cheaper out there for miles / condition etc.
The other thing I forgot to mention is that I am doing this through finance rather than hard cold cash so ebay etc is somewhat restricted!!!
Cheers Phill

It's up to you mate. If it was me I would be arranging my own finance and then buying with cash. OnceI'd bought the new one, at a good price - I would sell the old one via Ebay.
