Hi, Would just like to say hi to everyone as im new to the LandyZone Forum, I Drive a Series 3 88in 1.25 Diesel 1981 in Black for the harsh winter days, but recently it has started to 'klunk' when i set off from a standstill?

Is it to do with the Diff? it is not in 4 Wheel Drive at the moment, and does not do it when the Landy is warm?

Any Ideas, Thanks !!!

A frame ball joint indeed. It's a series 3 ffs it hasn't got a flamin a frame ball joint. Try propshaft u/j's, suspension bushes etc.

Put the hand brake on, jack up a rear wheel and rotate it back and forth. If you feel the diff output shaft and prop shaft you'll feel any excess play in the diff, UJs or propshaft splines. Take the brake off, put the gearbox into first and you'll feel the backlash in the gearbox. If all this seems reasonable it might be a spring bush that's broken up. A tinkling sound when driving points to UJs.
