I have a series 3 speedo cable where the inner core seems to be falling into the gear box. I know there shuold be a collar to stop this and it seems in place. Is there something missing in the box? The head is locking to the cable OK.

take a piccy where your cable goes into the box . sounds like the drive is missing ( if theres a big hole then id say yes lol ) .

Thanks Sypher,
I can take pictiures but don't know how to post them. Anyway thats my problem
It did work when a friend "modified it" but only lasted a short time. I will have a look at the hole when I next have her up on the ramp.
Cheers.

The cable could be in the wrong way round, unclip the speedo end, if the likkle brass bit is there then its upside down.

I changed mine and remembering being asked what size do you want, there seemed to be different sizes available. ??? Didn't know, he had a look and gave me the correct? one. It worked anyway.

Thanks a lot folks, really useful info.
Due for MOT and although not part of it will get her up and have a look at whats what.

I remember someone saying possibly davec that a left hand drive speedo cable is a good idea as they are a likkle bit longer and are a lot easier to fit.

At long last discovered what the problem was the cable was too tightly bent and cable tied to the chassis in a long curve. Works brilliantly now.
