been working thru sunday night mon morning, tues and weds thru the night after work , have dropped the engine out of a LDV 2.5 na and put it in a mates ser3 in place of a badly worn/ abused 2.25 diesel , the engine had done 60k, ther was no signs of oil or anything down the block , it run sweet and pulled well, was a hardly used post office van .
the engines in and running , BUT has devaloped a crank pressure problem
the ****s now decided to blow a fair bit of oil out the dipstick ole
sooo, ther was a plate over the cam on the pump side , i removed that and made and fitted an oil filler / breather pipe like the old landrover engines had , this has stopped it a bit , but still breaths heavy, this says to me oil controll rings....
the LDV instalation had a recirculating system fer the fumes / crank compression and burned off the compression from the head back in to the inlet manifold
this was reconnected, but couldnt find an actual crank breather, must all come up out the push rod drillings
thers a fair bit of white / bluey vapor coming out the ole now, ( cracked liners) but ffs it drove well last week and now its in a LR its rough as a bears arse
any ideas?
