Series 3 engine swap ... which one!?

No doubt this has been asked a thousand times before but .......
I'm looking to change me old tired Series 3 (1983) diesel engine and would like to know:

What would be the easiest/best engine to use to drop in (not looking to spend too much).
How big a job is it.
Would I need to change the gearbox etc.
What aprrox cost would you expect for this?

200 TDI Im just finishing fitting one in my

200TDI is probably the best option, but 2.5 N/A is the easiest.
