Hi,

Just purchased a 2a 1965 and one of the jobs to do is the speedo binnacle - Its there but very scruffy - is there anywhere I can replace the decals for the switch signs?

I am also looking for an image of the steering column shroud, mine has just exposed cables so I need to get one.

Anyone local to North Kent with one I can have a look at and get some idea of what else I may need to get to replace missing bits? I'm not looking to get it back to new condition or anything like that, but complete again at least.

Any assistance much appreciated

Photo of how it looks now would be good so we can see what your up against.

Not sure of decals or a 2a shroud???

My 1965 series 2a doesn't have a steering column shroud. Plenty of pictures in my build / project thread (see sig). Will take more if you need them.

Your steering column is actually quite a unique design (well it should be for a series 2a) as it shares more parts with the series 1 than the later models. There's no steering lock and instead of a bearing at the top there's an oil impregnated bush.

Hi Stretch - Thanks for your reply. I've found the decals (as I called them) for the dashpanel - ie Lights - Wipers - Heater etc on Ebay, the type that fit under the nut that holds the switches on.
The steering column on mine has nothing below the steering wheel, just exposed cables - I can see vague pictures on the net that show them encapsulated but I can't see with what. My 2A has the steering wheel with the wire spokes if that dates it (some seem to have solid steering wheels)

Stretch, how can I get to see your build pics please - couldn't find it by clicking on your signature if thats what you do?

Pictures of steering column are on page 10 (in bits) - there's a picture of it all before it came apart here =>

There's probably a few more hidden in the thread somewhere

You've got a non original indicator stalk on there.

Mine has an indicator unit with a wheel on it for canceling the signal like this

(Taken from google images - john richardson site)

The only other wire that runs down the column is for the horn (centre of the steering wheel)

The indicator switch you have fitted is later series 2a/3 version the one with the wheel is Tex Magna fitted to series 2.
