Needed low ratio so selected neutral and moved to low. A few beeps and Select Neutral was permanently displayed. I still had High ratio so drove home to loads of beeps (lucky it wasn't a long way). To cut a long story short the problem was the XYZ switch. The switch had seized solid so when gear selection was made the nylon serations that fix the switch to the selector shaft had sheared. So selection moved but the switch didn't and was unable to sent a position to the Trans ECU so new xyz switch (expensive but no choice and special alignment tool on ebay for £18).
