Hi all, sorry this is a double post as I messed up the first one and couldn't delete it...

I'm trying to find how to change a turbo intercooler hose (and all the turbo related hoses) on here but my searches don't come up with anything concrete? Am I doing something wrong with a basic search?

Also, I have two Rave cds from fleabay bought the first for the Disco, second one because files for the Freelander were missing on the first.

I can't find anything on the TD4 intercooler on either CD, or anything on a TD4 Turbo? If anyone has access to a Rave CD can they advise me if there is a page reference for changing an intercooler pipe - please?

It will confirm if I'm still missing files (or not) and I can try and buy another CD with all the files on for the TD4

Many thanks!

The info on the various hoses etc is definitely on RAVE, should be in the chapter titled something like Engine, L Series.

Hi harold, I did a piece on this a while back. the most problematic one to change is the long one across the front/top of the engine.

the trick is to undo the right hand end first, then stuff most off the hose down the side of the dipstick. this will give you just enough room to get a pair of pliers (I know, I know) onto the hose clip on the left hand side where is goes onto the intercooler. You only need to give it about 1 turn with the pliers, then you can slip the jubilee clip round to get better access to the screw (still aint great though). Once undone, should be able to just pull the hose off.

when you put it back, give some thought as to the orientation of the jubilee clip to make it easier next time. I found a big flexi drive ratchet doohicky in a pound shop, wouldn't use it for anything serious, but it nipped up the jubilee clip a treat.

once you've fitted the new hose, cut a section off the old hose, about 4" long and slit lengthways. put this over the section where the hose rubbed through last time to give it some protection, and secure with cable ties (stainless steel are best, but nylon just as good)

here is the link to the gallery pics for you, there is a bit of a write up on each photo

Thanks, I'm going to remove the knackered one tomorrow (I hope).

Thanks for the Rave cd reminder booboodag - it worked a treat. I've never managed to be connected to the net long enough for it to download before!

All is tickety-booo! And all the Rave cd items are working so far....

Just a 'heads-up', and I posted this on the other thread (engines) also.

Sometimes when you search on here the results do not give you all the available posts. ie. when I searched 'turbo' in the freelander section it didn't come up with the silicone hose information.

This isn't a complaint, just a reminder that sometimes a 'newbie' may have tried searching before asking what appears to be a simple question.

Optimus prime. Thanks for the tips, and the photo links.

Thanks again for all the help, now I'm off to get covered in dirt.

Not too bad in getting the old pipe off - and when you refit I would also echo OP's comments about moving the jubilee clip for future access.

Now the damn thing won't start, I guess it's back to the search function...
