seal behind LED lights?

I am away to fit my new LED lights (indicators, side lights etc).

They came with a foam seal behind that i assume sits flat on the bodywork. But question is, do you guys keep the original rubber boot that sits inside the car? My ones are brittle and cracked, but seems wrong to just have the cables hanging inside?

On my LEDs, I just had the foam seal/gasket. After the rebuild, all the light holes will have a grommet in them before the seal. I don’t see a problem with the wires, once the grommet is fitted.
