Screeching Disco

I have a Discovery 2 TD5 that screeches when I accelerate. It is a bit like when the fanbelt slips. It did it occasionally before I left the UK and my mechanic said it wasn't the fanbelt at the time. It is getting worse and seems to come from the same part of the engine as the fanbelt. You may have guessed my now I am not mechanical!!

Sounds like your crankshaft pulley damper is on the way out

Also look at the exhaust manifold for soot. Sign of snaped manifold stud/s

As Landmark2 says 99 percent it will be your manifold studs pulling out of the head, google it quite common, loads of info out there.
