Defender has been sat on a flat front tire for about two months. Cos I've stripped out the cab and I'm doing a whole bunch of other stuff and the tire needs a new valve and other lame excuses I've just left it.

Just had a thought today - is that going to do any damage being sat on the rim (oh errr mrs)? I never was any good at physics.

May have damaged the tyre, give it a careful inspection. Doubt if it will have damaged the rim.

Nah - tis only flat at the bottom :D

I'd be (carefully) pumping it up  and seeing if the rim has done any obvious damage - and probably changing the wheel & tyre for the spare at least - you could also inflate it to storage pressure to see if anything starts poking out  any doubts, and new tyre time :(

If it survives, it'll run like a pig for a while anyway due to the misshapen sidewall

Thanks for the reassurance, the tire needs a new valve and the tread is well worn so probs just going o replace the whole tire. Maybe keep it as a second spare once I get round to changing the valve.

Like I said in the orig post the valve is ****ed so won't hold pressure - I've got an onboard compressor so did actually think of that ;)

Genuine schraeder valves (probably a TR14) are pennies on the bay - £3 for ten or might be less ?

Thanks pal. Although you guys aren't making it easy for me to just be lazy and leave it as it is

You could look on it a as a cardiovascular training opportunity.

On the other hand, if you get a new tyre as you suggested earlier, the tyre place will sort it all out for you. ;):)

I do like a work out and learning a new skill. Also if I do it myself, surely that will burn off the calories in at least 4 pints so... best start off in the pub
