Sat Nav System Failed

A friend of mine has a Freelander 2 and the Sat Nav system has failed. Its the unit under the seat which apparantly takes the DVD. It was causing the whole centre console to play up including the radio etc.

He has been told a replacement unit is about £2500. Is the there anyone out there who knows about these things and could help? Either looking for a reasonabley priced replacement or advice on possibly getting the unit repaired

If he doesnt mind losing the SAT NAV system, there is a cheap repair to get the rest of the most system up and running. Would cost about £2 or so, but would cut out the Sat Nav.

Just need a most loopback connector.

He's already had the Sat Nav disconnected and a loop connector fitted to get everything else working.
The problem is that he is looking to sell the car on, ok if you're going to stitch a dealer up, but with the trade in prices he's been offered, he's looking for a private sale - so he needs to get it fixed if possible.

Your best bet might be trying to find a Land Rover breakers?

A quick google search says that people have been unable to find a replacement, which is probably because its on MOST.

At £2.1k , your friend is probably better off taking the hit on trade in and letting the dealer just chuck it to auction.

Or be honest to a private seller that the built in sat nav doesnt work. Might get you somewhere.
