Right you lot, I need some help. I've found a Sankey trailer locally for £50. What do I need to look for on it?

What I do know is that its a drum brake version with no tailgate and on standard LR wheels. The electrics have already been converted.

50 quid tis a bargain im looking around for one locally there going for silly prices,
theres not much to check i suppose just check for rust and general wear an tear i suppose

As above...what size is it? Seen the half ton ones for about £100 in reasonable condition. Rust is about your only issue as long as the electric conversion has been done well.

Look for water ingress around the lights..

Cheers guys, he's quoting it as 1 ton, which I questioned. I seem to remember reading something either brake cylinders or wheel hubs being expensive. Not sure which now and cant find the post anymore either.
For £50 I'm happy for it to need servicing and a touch up.

Saves me a long and expensive drive to Whitham and around £200 odd quid looking at their prices.

Fingers crossed its not completely seized as it been parked up for a bit.

I don't know about the plant hitch. I'm in the same boat as you. I don't have a nato hitch yet but will pay for the trailer and collect later if the guy is happy with that.

Bailey ring hitch wont fit a sankey trailer ring.

Medusa I have a nato hitch that you are welcome to borrow until you can find one. I can bring it to Dafts tomorrow & I believe Redwings is coming over. If so I'm sure he can be put upon to throw it in his motor & you could pick it up off him.

Brilliant Pikey, your a star. (don't tell Minty) :D

nato is 76mm if i remember correctly the plant ones are somthing like 68ish. Er I towed back an arrows trailer last week got it quite cheap bloody wide country lanes were fun I can tell you!

The sankey you have been offered sounds good we had one but sold it and got the widetrack that sits lovley and level behind my 90. Mind you the arrows 1.3/4T is over 2.4m wide and is a whole new beastie all together! Its going to get stripped and sold for parts now its home and safe out the way.

I'm going to look at the trailer tonight and I just got meself one of these which will fit straight on my Dixon Bate.

These have been a bit like buses, Pikey lent me his natty yellow hitch (see http://www.landyzone.co.uk/lz/1053822-post6693.html) and had an offer from Redwings to lend me his one too if I got stuck without one.

I have to say that the generosity between Landy enthusiasts is fantastic.

Thank you very much guys

Pics of the trailer to follow.
