Hi, I'm trying to take the upper intake manifold off a 2003 D2 (head gaskets being replaced). It has secondary air bolted into the heads and it's just getting in the way, anyone know best way to take it off without breaking anything?

I think I can get an 18mm spanner on the back but don't want to apply force until taken advice here.

Cheers for any help

I tried everything I could to get the SAI pipes off but in the end I just removed the studs (2 each side) that screw into the upper intake holding the SAI valve on and the pipes should come out still attached to the heads. I have a feeling they are still going to get in the way of taking out the head bolts but I'll see what the access is like when the intake manifolds are off. Hope this helps someone in the future.

Well that didn't work. The SAI pipes were still in the way of 2 of the head bolts BUT I got the things off finally by wedging a spanner horizontally across the exhaust manifold to stop the SAI adaptor turning and then some effort and a bit of swearing encouraged the union nuts to undo, I think there was hammer involved as well about the same time as the swearing.
