Hello all,

I have a problem with my landyç

Backgroundç
1964 land rover Series 2 petrol with engine running fine at idle but not revving. converted to 12V system negative earth but still original 24V military lucas distributor.
It start always perfectly but doesn't rev properly. Carburetor have been rebuilt completely, new spark plug.

I suppose issue is on distributor. Any suggestion?

I botched a bit doing some test with different coil-ballast and changing from 12V to 24 volt but It still do the same with all configuration.

It started doing this after a drive of 10miles, and never went back to normality.

can you help? I have no idea on how to proceed. I thought of changing distributor entirely and put an electronic one.

If you squirt some petrol in carb and if it revs ok would that confirm it’s a fuel issue rather than electrical , assume timing ok, points gap correct and points fitted ok, condenser ok vacuum advance pipe not split?

Have you tried it with air filter hose removed in case hose is blocking air flow.
With hose off look down the carb and operate the throttle at the carb can you see a jet of fuel being squirted in from accelerator pump?
With engine running on tickover with air hose removed block the carb inlet with the palm of your hand engine will stall but but what this does is causes a lot of suction on carb jets and can clear a blockage.
Try spraying some WD40 around carb to manifold joint with engine running hose fitted, do the revs change thinking air leak at joint reducing mixture on higher air demand.

Many different ideas...

I changed the condenser but no changes. It could be that is the wrong condenser (I have a military distributor on a 12v system)

Carb has been rebuilt after this problem, but problem still persist.

Ive so many ideas but actually I’m not able to find the solution

Have you checked that the timeing advances and retards and holds steady at the correct timing?
Have you checked the mixture under load at various speeds?
