Rusted Chassis

I have just gone to see a 1992 Land Rover 90 County for sale which is absolutely stunning, not one scratch on her and she hasn't seen off road in her life also she is completely original not a thing done to her, but her chassis on the left hand side and centre cross member has shot, you can actually poke a finger through one of them.

I was wondering if it's worth getting the whole chassis replaced or wait a while for another to go on sale (never seen one as nice as this though)?

The Land rover costs £2000 if that helps at all.

Also would I be able to remove the body and change the chassis myself or would I have to get a specialist to do it?

Chassis will cost another £2k PLUS all the new bits you decide to put on because shocks springs nut and bolts etc etc will either need replacing or you'll decide to renew em whilst ya doing the rebuild.

Pros are you'll know you've got a good landy cons are it'll have cost you nearer £6k by the time you've finished.

Changing the chassis is doable by ya self if your competent with the old spanners.

i may have a decent used chassis coming up for sale shortly if u are gonna be after one mate

how much, I bought a creg 90 for £450 with tax,mot and only needed a small plate and bad earth for next mot

I think just for a bog standard defender from 92 for £6000 is a bit steep I have seen newer defenders with galvanised chassis for less. But I live on the Isle of Man so it's very slim picking here! Might pop over the UK and have a look at a few, it would have to be a good one because of the IOM MOT is very very strict. It's difficult until I know a few prices for the ones in the UK. Ah I live on the Isle of Man so it would be very difficult to get it across. Sorry mate.

If is any help, my new galv chassis for my 110 cost me £1250 +vat and about £1200 for it to be fitted.
