Hi we have just bought a freelander hard top (55 plate) TD4. it has fitted running boards, look like brushed aluminium, but have what looks like little spots of rust. any ideas on how to clean/get rid of these. Thanks

Either these are not aluminum or its a stain.

It could be said that rust is part of the character of the Land Rover. You could take the running boards off... Take it green laning, you won't see them after that....

Okay, failing that, a good metal polish is worth a go. Have a look in Halfords to see what they have for Aluminium. Could also try a caravan centre. Plenty of Ali on those white, rolling road blocks.... Try the polish somewhere you can't see first. Get the wrong stuff and you could make the whole job a lot worse.

Good luck.

autosol is quite good, but as darmain says, try on a small inconsipicuous area first, just in case they aren't made out of what you think they're made out of.
