Hello people I have a 1994 P38a with the airbag SRS light and notice on the dash screen.I have looked every place I can find even used the google and cant find the answer to.
Faultmate FCR 04016 harness check resistor is measuring open circuit. (TRW MPS TYPE1)
Or it could be 05016 the airbag firing circuit is measuring short to power.(TRW SPS TYPE1)
I cant find a wiring diagram it dosent have the seat wiring and wires look good and not cut as far as I can see.
Your help would be very helpful as I am so stuck with this one.
Thanks for your help

First thing you need to do is check that both SRS warning bulbs are sound. There are two bulbs if one fails it puts the other one on permanently and throws a fault. See what you get.

Hello thanks for the quick answer but both bulbs are good but changed them for good measure but I still have the same fault.

Connector corrosion, flat battery, steering wheel airbag connection are possibles. Airbag firing circuit suggests it might be the ECU.

Do you know if it is posable to get a circuit diagram of the airbag system so I can go through it with a meter rave didn't have the airbag system in it

Working on the SRS whilst it is live with a multi meter is dangerous. You should not touch any part of it unless you disconnect the battery and wait half an hour for the system to discharge. There are circuit diagrams for the system in the 1999/2000 Rave. Yours maybe similar less the seat bags and belt tensioners. SRS system Part N1 Page 3. But yours will have separate crash sensors on the chassis legs. Later models have the crash sensor in the ECU. Yours will be MPS1. SPS1 has no sensors on chassis legs and SPS2 has seat and side airbags and pretensioners. Look in your RAVE > Workshop manuals >Electrical > Repair you may find reference to SRS there

As Wammers said, unless you want a face full of airbag, follow his instructions.
