Rotor Arm - Freelander 1 k series 1999

Morning all

I am no expert mechanic but how easy is it to change the rotor arm on a K series engine ?

Is it just a case of removing then air filter housing, unscrewing the distributor cap and pulling out the old rotor arm ?
Or is it a bit more complicated than that ?

I am hoping its a 10 minute job but wanted to check before I start

its a simple job as you described,though youll want a new cap too

Remove
1. Remove air cleaner assembly.
2. Noting their fitted positions, disconnect 5 h.t.
leads from distributor cap.
3. Loosen 2 screws securing distributor cap to
engine.
4. Remove distributor cap.
5. Rotate engine to gain access to rotor arm
screw.
6. Remove screw securing rotor arm to camshaft.
7. Remove rotor arm.
8. Remove distributor flash shield.

Refit
1. Clean distributor cap, rotor arm and flash
shield.
2. Examine distributor cap and rotor arm for signs
of damage or tracking; renew if necessary.
3. Fit flash shield.
4. Clean rotor arm screw thread in camshaft with
thread tap.
5. Position rotor arm on camshaft.
6. Fit NEW patchlock screw to secure rotor arm to
camshaft and tighten to 8 Nm.
7. Fit distributor cap and align holes in cap and
flash shield with those in engine.
8. Fit 2 screws securing distributor cap to engine.
9. Connect h.t. leads to distributor cap.
10. Fit air cleaner assembly.

Dist cap screw, small hex socket - 8mm I think. Fits the screw on the rotor as well.
