My son picked up this heavy galvanised roof rack for our Defender. Great condition but no fixings and no obvious way to fix it to the roof. Anyone got a similar one or have any ideas, please.

Some more pics of the legs might help. Do they have treaded hole?

Think @Mackers had a few issues with his roof rack fittings.

Oh and welcome:)

Have you tried it in place?...do the legs sit in the gutter?...Bobsticle made some brackets recently which would fit but can't remember thread title...

Thanks for the replies. There are no holes in the legs. Haven’t tried it on the roof, I will need both boys and the missus to lift it, also the gutter is filled and I’m reluctant to cut out the filler until I’m sure I can attach it properly. Hopefully try setting it on at the weekend and let you know how I get on.

If the legs sit in the gutters...weld a tube to the legs...weld a threaded rod that fits in tube to a piece of angle...sit rack in gutter slide rod up through tube and clamp leg to gutter with nut iirc that's how my Brownchurch fitted my 110,20 odd years ago...
