roof box fitting - help please

I have a 2008 Disco 3 without roof bars, There are two strips of rubber which I have not yet prised up. Do these conceal a T track? My local Halfords chap is sure that I can't fit a set of feet to mount roof bars and tells me that he has checked with Thule and they confirm this.

Any advice would be very much appreciated as I have to transport 3 large people and a small wife plus 4 sets if skis and boots to the Alps and it is not going to be possible without my roof box!
