ride hight sensors

Hi all, does anybody know if all L322s have the same ride hight sensors at the back, My RR L322 2004 sits low on O/S rear at all settings . Im being told bu local indy that the O/S sensor is the wrong one for my car being told its £150 for the right one has anyone got a part number ?

Easy answer, no they don't all have the same .
A quick search around parts suppliers should help you. Depending on which lights you have will also come in to play. I think the price is around £80-100 at the moment.

Ditto the sensors are different if you have Xenon headlights. You need to call a few LR parts suppliers with your VIN details. Once you get the correct sensor it will need calibration on the vehicle so you will have to consider who can do that if not you. Do you have it at a LR specialist? If not perhaps that’s what you should look into.

This is from the manual but IMO the suspension part of the sensor is the same so should not be an issue. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.



A height sensor is fitted in each corner of the vehicle to monitor the ride height of the vehicle. The sensors are mounted
on the front and rear subframes, with a mechanical link to the suspension lower arms. There are six different types of
sensor fitted to Range Rover:
l LH front height sensor – All vehicles
l RH front height sensor – Halogen headlamps fitted
l RH front height sensor – Xenon headlamps fitted
l LH rear height sensor – All vehicles.
l RH rear height sensor – Halogen headlamps fitted
l RH rear height sensor – Xenon headlamps fitted.
NOTE: RH front and RH rear height sensors fitted to vehicles with Xenon headlamps have a white stripe across the
back face of the sensor housing for identification.
The height sensors are attached to brackets on the subframes and are connected to the lower arms by links. The links
allow articulation of the arm to allow for suspension travel. Each sensor is connected by a six pin multiplug. Standard
height sensors use three of the six pins and height sensors for vehicles fitted with xenon headlamps use all six.
The height sensors contain a circuit board with a Hall effect sensor. The sensor is supplied with a reference voltage
from the air suspension ECU which measures the returned voltage to determine the sensor arm position. The sensors
used on vehicles with xenon headlamps use a sensor with a second circuit. This second circuit is used by the xenon
headlamp levelling ECU.
The front sensor ball jointed linkage is a serviceable item. The rear sensor linkage cannot be serviced and must be
changed as a complete assembly.

This is great information. Was it from an online manual or did you have to purchase it?

Might just need a calibration..
 
You could always swap the rear sensors over with one another....... Then see what happens when you start it back up and let the suspension settle.... If it then sits lower on the NSR you know it just needs calibrating as @Henry_b suggested
 
A big thanks to all for the reply,s very helpful. I think I'll let my local Indy do the job as he has the gear to do a calibration. I will search for rave, thanks again

I understand. It took me a while to replace my rears, I had to cut/drill a few of the bolts holding my height sensors in place last December in the freezing cold (in the dark may I add)
Fortunately it's not my daily driver so could afford to have it sat there unusable for a few days (and it was!!)

Any update on yours with the indi???
