Hi fellas could someone please tell me where the reverse stop screw is on an early series 3 gearbox? My reverse selector lever is I think going too far backwards causing the gear lever to sometimes pop out of the jaw. Fitted a new gear lever and grub screw but looking at it I think the travel on reverse is too far the lever almost hits the dash in reverse. Cheers Dave.

I didn't know there was a stop screw. There is a spring located plate that acts as the reverse position resistance (probabley not a good description) the lever does nearly hit the dash, it goes further towards the dash than the first gear position. I've fitted a cheap radio under the dash and the lever hits that in reverse.

I know the plate you mean I'm doing the detents tommorow I'm hoping that stops the gear lever falling out of the jaw thing it slots into on the shaft iv noticed when you move the stick in the wrong position in reverse it pushes the 1st 2nd selector shaft forward slightly making a gap for it to fall out of the jaw if that makes sense it's hard to explain lol

What suffix is your gear box reverse stop was not required on later boxes [but still in casing].
Usual location is on rear top face of the transfer case where it mates to gear box ie to the rear of the selector shafts.
If you take the two contersunk screws out of the little plate on rear of selector cover to set it up
