Since I brought my TD5 Auto facelift (fogs and reverse lights in bumper) in January the reverse lights have never worked.

I made several attempts to fix them with no joy.

Bulbs are ok, my electrician mate gave me a hand one day and used a tester to somehow get the reverse bulbs to light using power from the fog light, this tested the circuit as well apparently.

All fuses are fine, shared with brake light, and I checked the wiring back the connector near the handbrake.

This plug then goes under the car to the XYZ switch. I have no other issues to give me a reason to suspect the switch, the gear indicator on the dash shows correctly.

Can anyone suggest anything else I can try.

I have parking sensors but these don't work, I'm guessing it's linked. I've checked power to the parking ecu and its fine, I have not changed any components yet.

If you are up to DIY i can guide you to troubleshoot, there are two requirements:
1. to have a multimeter
2. to have RAVE cos the connector views are needed
let me know your intentions

I have a basic multimeter, nothing fancy. I don't have RAVE but I do have the manuals for the disco 2 although I could find no wiring diagram in there

RAVE is compulsory, i can't help you without it cos that would mean to copy and paste all the involved connectors instead of telling you theyr number if you see what i mean.... but as D2 owner you should have RAVE anyway so better download one

I downloaded it and it turns out it's the same as the 2 big folders I got with the landy.

Been using it to try fix the issue with no luck

So, as long as the odometer symbol works it means that the signal from the XYZ switch is OK cos it comes on a single wire untill header C0294 where it splits between the BCU and other circuits, there is a connector where it can be trouble and easyer to access C0484/0102 -11(it used to suffer from corrosion), so select reverse with ignition on and check if you get feed against body on the green/brown wire both sides.... though i'm still confused, do you have RAVE or not? ... or at least an Electrical library (not circuit diagrams) to see such connector views as below... if not download this https://www.dropbox.com/s/xnio16bj3...ectrical Library (LRL0529ENG 2nd Ed).pdf?dl=0

No power on green/brown wire either side.
Ignition on in reverse R selected on clocks.
Poked probe right in, can't work out how to separate plug.
Tested earth point with meter buzzer probes to dash bolt and door hinge buzzed so that should be good earth.

What's next?

That header should have clips both sides... If no power on any side unfotunately you must go back on the circuit and it will be a bit harder cos you'll have to reach header C0294(see connector views) which might be embeded into the loom , there comes the signal from the XYZ switch to pin 1 and splits to BCU pin 3(which works as you get the symbol) and should come from pin 4 to where you measured pin 11 green/brown(GN) wire all the way...before that to make sure the diagram is not wrong(happened not once especially for facelifts) let ignition off and take a live from the fusebox and give it to that green/brown wire ... you should get the reverse lamps on then if the diagram is ok ... see the diagrams "brake and reverse lights" and you'll understand

The trouble i am having regarding your kind instructions are I'm not technical and my copy of Rave does not have anything you have mentioned so far.

Can't find any reference to reverse/brake lights or any diagrams

you have a permannent live on the purple wire of that plug where you have to work C0484 pins 13, 15, 17, 20 purple wires just bridge it to the GN pin 11 with a thin wire

I managed to separate the plug, it was a pain.
Only way I could check power to the purple or take power as the wire was bigger and no probe or piece of wire would poke down.

Confirmed it was live and connected it to the green/brown and the reverse lights went on.

Ive looked for 0294 behind the fuseboard and there are no plugs

its saying its a green 20 pin female plug but the only green plug goes into the back of the fuseboard and its not 20 pin

I told you, it's embeded into a harness there where it's position is shown, where you see black cover around the harness there it is under it.... that's why i started with the easy one cos these ''hidden'' headers are a pig to access , can be very hard to find... if no joy with it, remove the glovebox, go to BCU's C0661 - 8(the same GN wire, splice into it with a piece of wire and bring it to C0484 -11, this way you give the reverse signal to the lamps bypassing that frigging header .... the BCU gets the signal from the XYZ switch on that pin(C0661-8) that's why the R symbol works but at C0294 the signal is supposed to split and go to C0484-11 but it doesnt if you see what i mean
