this might sound mad.....

but has anyone retrimmed an 80s/90s defender vinyl lower dash ?

mines a mess from years of abuse- and while i dont want factory finish if would be nice if it didnt look like the dog ate it.

any one ever taken any photos?

It's been done, are you going for more vinyl or something else?

Google search for it, people have done some really nice work. If you're good at upholstering things and have an eye for detail you should manage fine. If not then, professional auto upholsterer - other places will do it but they will want to dash out.

Will they want the dash out of my garage off the shelf it lives on currently :)

I did have a google but most folk seem more concerned about doing the top part of the dash which to me looks fairly simple to recover, the bottom has quite a few contours. I guess i cant make it worse :)

try looking on ebay, ive just bought a leather kit to re-trim the plastic steering column. went on ok, just got to fit to the column.
topgaiters are the seller. they do all landy parts, dash top, bottom, end, doors, and binnacle.
