restoration to learn?

hi all i already have a 2.5 1998 but know nothing about it realy just wondered if it might help understand the beast if i bought one from ebay realy cheap and tried to restore i may learn something that way ready for when the probs start i am not rich by any means just woner if its a good idea or not any tips would be appreciated

Yes they are good projects (buy a classic not P38)

We also had a good post from another chap in india,bought a post office series and refurbished it

I bought a cheapy for spares, but it also means I can play with the electronics to learn.

I had to do that with my classic , I had intended to do some work on it but not as much work as it needed.

it was a one year intensive course and obviously I am still learning But I have learnt alot!!!

I would not do it with a p38 though- ever!
