My socket for removing the security wheel nut is quite worn and difficult to get onto the nut.

So, I need a new one. Are these specifically from LR or can I obtain one elsewhere?

Plenty available on the bay...or from wheel-stealers-dot-com :D
But seriously....do you really need locking wheel nuts? Unless they are shiny new, state of the art, wheels, then I would replace with standard nuts - much simpler in the long term.
:)

I had a prob with my locking wheel nuts when i brought my td4...namely i didnt have a key :D and i had two different types on as well so i took it to my local tyre place and a lump hammer ,one socket and ten mins later they were all off. He said the same because so he says these wheels do not fit much else they do not get nicked that much , even so i brought a set of locking wheels nuts off ebay i just dont have one for the spare

I think I might replace them with normal nuts for alloys.

I don't suppose that my alloys are particularly attractive to thieves. :)

I'm more bothered about someone pinching the wheels for the tyres, than the scabby old alloys I have on mine.

The locking wheel nuts have a letter code associated with them. A main dealer can either look up your VIN and tell you the letter your key is, ( they can do this with the radio code too). You will just need to bring the V5 along as proof of ownership. No good of course, if it's not the original key, (or radio).

I think for the locking wheel key, they are supposed to have a set to determine the correct one.
